Student Days at Bristnall Hall Sixth Form

As a student based at the Bristnall Hall campus you will attend morning classes at Bristnall Hall.

The Sixth Form opens its doors at 7.30am allowing students to access the study room prior to morning lectures.

The Sixth Form day begins at 8.55am with registration in the Sixth Form common room.

The morning consists of 3 lectures, each one hour long with a 15 minute break in between lecture 2 and 3.

Students who have Independent Study time within the morning lectures have access to the private study areas.

Dependent on course choices afternoon lectures will be taught at one of the other SSC campuses (George Salter Collegiate Academy, Shireland Collegiate Academy).

Free transport is provided for students between campuses.

The bus leaves from Bristnall Hall gates at 12.50pm and returns at around 4.15pm, the transport provides a door to door service.

Afternoon lectures are from 1.15pm to 3.45pm.

On return to Bristnall Hall, the Sixth Form remains open to students until 6.00pm for further studies or relaxation.

Electives (Wednesday afternoon)

On Wednesday afternoon students are provided with the opportunity to develop or explore various enrichment activities.

These activities range from Provisional Driving Courses, Duke of Edinburgh Schemes, regionally competitive or recreational sports opportunities and Coaching/Mentoring Awards in a variety of subjects.

These courses provide the opportunity to challenge yourself in non academic areas and enrich your whole learning experience in the Sixth Form.

Student Support

The staff at Bristnall Hall are always prepared to support students.

There is an extensive range of support available both academically and pastorally.

Each student is a member of a tutor group where any issues or concerns can be discussed with their tutor.

Students are provided with direct access to Careers advice through our Connexions Team.

The team provide guidance in Higher Education, The World of Work and Education Maintenance Allowance and many other areas.

The team are available throughout the College day and are happy to provide support outside of College times.

Bristnall Hall is also linked with Worcester University who provide support from postgraduate students who act as mentors for our Sixth Form students.

Education Maintenance Allowance

Students may be eligible for up to £30 per week for choosing to stay in education. The Education Maintenance Allowance is paid to Post-16 students from low-income families following full-time courses.

A learning agreement must be signed by the student, parent and tutor. This will set out the goals, attendance and homework targets, which must be met to receive payment.
